The Mazamas is a truly unique community, where deep Pacific Northwest roots meet internationally esteemed mountaineering and education standards. We're glad you're here!
We'll go up the Old Dog trail for some good exercise and down the Augspurger trail to save our knees a little. Pace will be no more than 2 mph with breaks as needed and time for photos. Note that about a mile is added by descending via Augspurger, making it roughly 7 miles round trip.
Long pants recommended due to poison oak along the trail and possibly ticks. Shouldn't be too busy on a Tuesday, but we will start fairly early in the morning to beat the rush. Hopefully lots of gorgeous wildflowers will still be blooming! More info here: https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/dog-mountain
Mazama activities begin and end at the trailhead. It is up to the activity participants how they choose to travel to and from the activity. Organizationally, we do not recommend carpooling for non-vaccinated individuals who do not share a household. Please be sure to review the Mazama COVID policies and bring your facemask.
A NW Forest Pass or other federal pass is required at the trailhead.
