Activity Notes
The famous flowers on Dog Mountain peak around Mother's Day, but four days before we won't have to tend with permits or crowds. This shouldn't be anyone's first hike of the spring, because it gets steep at points as we ascend 2,750 over a 6.9 mile loop. We will take the eastern fork toward the summit and return via the Augspurger Trail, for the typical counter-clockwise loop.
We are gathering into carpools at Mazamas at 07:00 and will take SR 14, avoiding the toll bridge. Every vehicle parked at the trailhead will need to display a federal pass (NW Forest Pass, America the Beautiful, or senior pass).
