Activity Notes

The hike up Dog Mountain is a challenging and iconic climb in the Columbia River Gorge. The trail rises steeply from the start, gaining elevation quickly through forested switchbacks before opening to expansive views. In spring, the hillsides burst with vibrant wildflowers, making the ascent especially memorable. Higher up, the terrain becomes more exposed, with sweeping vistas of the Columbia River and surrounding cliffs. The summit rewards hikers with panoramic views that feel endless. Though strenuous, Dog Mountain offers one of the most scenic and rewarding hikes in the Pacific Northwest.

The plan is to meet at the MMC and depart around 7 a.m. If you are planning on meeting us at the trailhead please do so by 8:30 a.m. A NW Forest Pass or an America the Beautiful Pass is required to park at the trailhead.
