Start from the Mazamas Lodge parking lot and take the scenic route to the popular Trillium Lake basin.
Activity Notes
This 7 mile loop is a fun outing for intermediate-level nordic skiiers. The route is entirely on snow-covered roads. Starting from the Government Camp Highway Maintenance Sno-park, the most challenging section is right at the start, descending the Hemlock trail through the Still Creek Campground into the Trillium basin. We'll circle Trillium Lake counter-clockwise, and come back the way we came. Participants should have completed Mazamas Nordic Intermediate class within the last 5 years, or have equivalent skills and experience (mastery of diagonal stride, step turn & snow plow on low grade slopes). This area is not groomed and is shared with snowshoers and snowmobiles. Regular nordic (with or without metal edges) or backcountry nordic skis are appropriate for the terrain. If you choose to carpool, the suggested donation is $12 roundtrip. An Oregon Sno-Park pass is required to park at this trailhead. GPS track link| Other Information | |
