Activity Notes
Mt Aix is today the highest point in the William O. Douglas Wilderness, but it has an even greater story to tell from the distant past. As we climb the mountain, we'll get its fascinating story from our assistant leader, who has done PhD-level research into Mt Aix. Both the leader and assistant have climbed Mt Aix multiple times. What sets this climb apart from others is incredible views of nearby mountains during the ascent but no view of our destination until the last half hour or so. Scrambling is required to reach the summit, but most of this climb is a hike on a very nice trail.
