Activity Notes
Old favorite hike that I haven't done for seven years. Now the only way to experience Hart's Cove, its hidden coastal waterfall, and its soundtrack of barking sea lions, is to start from the Cascade Head South Trailhead. This is a very long day, as we will hike 14.3 miles, gaining 2,900', with half the elevation gain before lunch and half the elevation gain after lunch, as we have to go back the same way. But our route is spectacular at times with pristine coastal forest and the famous coastal view from Cascade Head, while we'll also walk over a mile on a closed road. It's a privilege to hike there, with our trails kept open less than half the year by the Nature Conservancy and Siuslaw National Forest.
