A three pitch 5.6 sport route of an andesite pinnacle of pretty good rock on a broad steep nose with some airy exposure located a very short walk from highway 20.

Activity Notes

Santiam Pinnacle is 2.5 pitches of well-bolted 5.6 climbing just minutes from the highway.

We will climb in three groups of three. Each group will have a lead climber, a lead belayer and a follower. Multi-pitch experience is not required for the follower role, and beginners with BCEP-level rock skills are encouraged to apply.

Lead climber: Experience with sport multi-pitch (ICS or AR equivalent)

Lead belayer: ICS or other experience lead belaying outdoors

Follower: BCEP-level rock skills including roped climbing, climbing commands and rappelling

If time permits, we may also climb the adjacent single-pitch Gonzo Pinnacle on top rope.

When you apply, please fill out this questionnaire. Team selection will be completed by August 23.

You have the option to join us for climbing at Smith Rock on Sunday with camping near Smith on Saturday night. This will be posted on the Mazamas calendar as a separate activity led by Andrew Leaf and will have a $50 fee.
