A somewhat more difficult and longer route than the standard south side. Involves climbing on the Prouty Glacier, and some scrambling through rock bands. A late season bergschrund can make this route impassible. Approach via Green Lakes. Can be done car to car in a long day.

Activity Notes

Join me for a climb of South Sister's Prouty Glacier. For this much less traveled route we gain the glacier from Green Lakes—where we will likely be camping on snow—and ascend through a couloir on the headwall and on to the summit.

  • A major factor will be the date that Cascade Lakes Highway opens up.
  • Team selection will be made by May 15.
  • This a couple of weeks before permits are required.
