Activity Notes

A challenging hike that starts at the Hummocks Trail and follows part of the Boundary Trail to the Johnston Ridge Observatory. Enjoy the hummocks plains, wildflowers, and views of the crater as you are immersed in the Mount St. Helens landscape. We'll have time for photos along the way.

We'll return on the Boundary Trail and finish up by completing the Hummocks Loop. Note that elevation gain is approximately 1,800' and there are a couple of narrow stretches with loose, pebbly rocks on a fairly steep traverse, so hiking poles are strongly recommended as well as sturdy boots with good traction.  Meeting place is the Hummocks Trail parking lot off WA-504 (right side of road).
