Activity Notes

The Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim is one of the classic hiking challenges in the American Southwest.

Starting on the South Rim, we'll descend to the Colorado River, cross through the canyon, and climb to the North Rim. After an overnight stay in a cabin on the North Rim, we'll shoulder our packs and make the return crossing back to the South Rim.

In total, the route covers more than 40 miles with over 10,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain.

For hikers who prefer a single crossing, an optional shuttle will be available from the North Rim back to the South Rim for an additional cost.

Beyond the Hike

We'll also spend several days exploring the Grand Canyon region, including:

  • South Rim walks and overlooks
  • Sunrise and sunset viewpoints
  • Hopi House and cultural sites
  • Geology exhibits and museums
  • Rim-side biking opportunities
  • Local arts and crafts markets
  • Bedrock City roadside attraction

We'll stay together in a comfortable Airbnb near Grand Canyon National Park, providing a convenient basecamp for the trip.

This expedition is designed for experienced hikers with strong endurance and a willingness to tackle long days on the trail.

Application & Cancellation Timelines

Applications will be reviewed and participants accepted on August 15th; accepted participants will have cards on file charged at the time of acceptance. Outings take considerable time from our volunteers and staff and require significant advanced bookings, some of which are non-refundable.

  • Cancellation requests made prior to acceptance will incur no charge
  • Cancellation requests made between August 15 - August 27 will receive a refund less a $250 application fee
  • Cancellation requests after August 27 are not eligible for an automatic refund. A 50 percent refund may be issued if the spot can be filled by another participant; we will make every effort to do so.

Outings are put on by volunteer leaders and are dependent on weather conditions and other circumstances. In the event that the Outing is cancelled, participants will receive a refund minus an administrative fee.
