Dalles Mountain Ranch to Stacker Butte 7 miles, 2000 feet gain, hiking time 4 hours. Meet at MMC at 800 AM.   Driving - 85 miles  each way from Mazamas MMC.  The Dalles Mountain Ranch has become an annual tradition for many hikers and photographers; mid-April to May is the prime time for the  balsam root-lupine bloom.  There is much more than balsam root to appreciate: old ranch buildings and farm machinery, sweeping vistas out to Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams, rim rock cliffs, wildlife and many other species of blooms. Part of the hike is along an old road with an even grade, stating at the old ranch.  You will need a Washington Discover pass to park. We can carpool from the MMC, but you may also meet at the Trailhead at 930AM.
