Activity Notes

Join us for an introduction to mountaineering and snow skills day on Mount Hood with a hike up the Palmer snow field! With BIPOC and LGBTQ leaders, we’ll cover the skills necessary to climb “non-technical” peaks such as Mount St. Helens or South Sister. We will begin our day at Timberline on Mount Hood, and go over ice axe use, crampons, snow travel skills and more. This event is open to all BIPOC and LGBTQ2S+ individuals. No previous snow experience required. Registration opens at 5pm on Wednesday, May 12th.

This event is organized by members of Melanated Mazamas and Wild Diversity.

For this event, we will be practicing skills with an ice axe, crampons, and mountaineering boots. Next Adventure is generously offering free rentals for all who need them. After acceptance, we will follow up with information on how to pick them up before the course (Thursday or Friday).
