This is an B level Mazama Hike that occurs in a non-wilderness area. B level hikes are moderate or more challenging hikes with either less than 15 miles in distance with between 1,500 and 3,000 feet elevation gain or between 8 and 15 miles in distance with less than 1,500 feet of elevation gain.

Activity Notes

Join us for a fun (DOG FRIENDLY) hike to Gnat Creek! We'll meet at MMC at 9:00AM and carpool on over to Gnat Creek Trailhead (approx 90 minute drive). We'll hike along the creek through a beautiful forest. The hike is about 8 miles, with an elevation gain of about 700'. Difficulty rating is easy-moderate  (https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Gnat_Creek_Hike). After the hike, we'll continue west to Astoria (approx 25 minutes) where we'll indulge in some delicious brews at Fort George Brewery. Pupticipants are welcome, but out of respect to other hikers we are limiting the number of doggos to 5. Please indicate when you register if you plan to bring your pup by emailing Heather. All pup-ticipants must be well behaved and get along with other puppers. Any participant who attempts to bring a doggo who does not indicate to us by email that they will be bringing a dog will not be permitted on the hike.
