Activity Notes

The Fifteenmile Creek area is an undiscovered gem east of Mount Hood. The area lies at the edge of the vast rain shadow cast by Mount Hood, and hiking down into Fifteenmile Creek's canyon reveals wildflowers, ponderosa pines, curious rock formations, and views east into Oregon's high desert. Join us for an exploration of this gorgeous area few people visit.

One important thing to note: This hike begins from the upper trailhead at Fifteenmile Campground, and descends down into the canyon. Thus, we will hike downhill first and uphill on the way back. Please do not sign up for this hike unless you are prepared to hike uphill for 5 miles on the return trip of this hike.

Hike: 11 mile loop

Elevation Gain: 2,000 feet (on the return)

Drivetime: 2 hours each way (170 miles round-trip)

Please prepare for a long day exploring an area far from Portland. Come prepared with the 10 Essentials, spare water and food, and a sense of adventure. No dogs.

Meet at Gateway Transit Center and 7:30 AM. We will leave by 7:40 at the latest. Leader: Matt Reeder
