Activity Notes

Hike B-2, 8 miles, 1100 ft. elevation gain. Come and join Ryan Abbott and Ellen Burns on the trail to Harrys Ridge, named after the two Harry's who died in the 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens. Ruined scientific equipment remains on the ridge for inspection and views on a clear day include: Spirit Lake, the blast crater, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams.  Wild flowers along the trail are delightful.  Be sure to bring your 10 hiking essentials, proper foot wear, a lunch/snacks for the trail and at least 4 liters of water.  The trail is in good shape but on a hot day will have sun/heat/wind and height exposures.  Please arrive by 6:50 AM at the meetup spot (99th Street Transit Center, Vancouver, WA, I-5 north, take exit 5). Look for the white SUV with the tail gate up in the north end of the transit center parking lot. We leave promptly at 7:00 am.  To sign up go to Mazamas.org and follow the directions to sign up for this interesting hike.  Ryan and Ellen look forward to hiking with all of you.  Ryan will be leading his provisional hike as part of becoming a Mazama Hike Leader.
