Angel's Rest is one of the most popular hikes in the Columbia Gorge and affords gorgeous views of the Columbia River from it's summit. You'll hike through varied terrain, including lush green forest, a barren area from the 1991 forest fire, as well as pass by a waterfall.

This short hike is well worth the effort. Plan to arrive early on spring and summer weekends as it can get very crowded.

Activity Notes

Let's explore Angel's Rest now that it has reopened!

It’s a moderate 2.4 mile hike up through the trees, climbing a handful of switchbacks for a bit and then traverse across a boulder field near the top which opens up to a 270 degree view of the Columbia River Gorge!

Being a Portland "winter" day, we will hope for sun but prepare for rain. This means full rain gear and no jeans!! Please also bring extra layers to put on to keep warm while hiking and resting in the cold, wet conditions.
