Activity Notes

The Little North Santiam River is a wonderland of ancient forest, deep green pools and lush moss. Come join AYM to hike one of the great winter hikes in our area. We'll start at the Little North Fork Trailhead and hike the trail up and over the bluffs above the river to trail's end at Shady Cove Campground, where we'll stop for lunch. We will then return on the same trail back to the trailhead. If there's time after the hike we can drive to nearby Sullivan Creek Falls, a 160 foot roadside waterfall in the area. This hike is also a celebration - Matt will be celebrating 10 years of leading hikes for AYM, so he will provide some form of leader treats to celebrate. His first lead was the Little North Santiam River on January 25, 2009.

Hike: 9 miles, 1,800 feet of elevation gain. Drive: 160 miles round-trip. Please prepare for winter hiking conditions, and bring adequate rain gear. The hike will be limited to 12 individuals. No dogs. Meet at Gateway Transit Center, NW Corner, at 8AM. Leader: Matt Reeder
