Activity Notes
Eagle Creek is historically the most famous trail on the Oregon side of the Columbia Gorge. It has morphed somewhat since the 2017 fire that bears its name, but it's forever compelling. The trail through the canyon is exposed in places, and we won't be taking side trails that could put party members at risk. We'll hike about 12 miles, gaining just over 1,000'. On our hike we will pass Punchbowl, Loowit, Four Mile, Wy'East, Grand Union, Tunnel, and Twister Falls, then after lunch by the creek, we will turn around and experience everything again hiking back down the canyon. On this hike we usually hike below 2.0 mph, so it's an all-day affair.
