This is an C level Mazama Hike that occurs in a wilderness area. C level hikes are difficult or strenuous hikes with either over 15 miles in distance or over 3,000 feet elevation gain. C level hikes require you to apply; once you apply you will receive an email within a few days letting you know if you have been accepted onto the hike.

Activity Notes

Bluegrass Ridge is a rarely used trail on the east side of Mt Hood that has great views and wildflowers. You can find a description on OregonHikers. While there has been some recent volunteer efforts to bring this trail back, there is still some bushwhacking and route finding as well as a decent amount of blowdown to climb over that adds a bit of adventure. The hike is approximately 15 miles and 3300 ft elevation gain and with the trail conditions and drive time that makes for a full day.
