The Intermediate Climbing School (ICS) has a testing component as part of its admission process. This prep session is designed to allow prospective ICS students to practices the skills necessary to pass the ICS Skills Test. It is entirely optional
Activity Notes
This is an open practice session for folks who are interested in taking Intermediate Climbing School (ICS) this year. Come to practice skills and ask questions about the skills admissions test and the course in general.
Skills Test Prep night runs from 6 - 9pm. Participants can stay for part or the whole time. It's highly recommended to attend at 6 pm as we will be going over introductions, a safety briefing, and the set up of the stations available for practice.
Required Gear:
- Climbing helmet
- Climbing harness
- Belay/rappel device with dedicated locking carabiner
- 4 standard locking carabiners
- 2 standard non-locking carabiners
- Autoblock/Third hand
- Personal protection leash
- Tennis shoes or approach/trail shoes (rock shoes optional)
Optional: Water bottle, Snacks if you need them
Joining last minute? Feel free to attend! Acceptance to this event is not required, but applying helps us gauge how many volunteers we will need to manage stations. Notably we will be sharing space with another Mazamas group at Holman Auditorium. Please consider attending the 7/20 open session instead if able.
