This is an B level Mazama Hike that occurs in a non-wilderness area. B level hikes are moderate or more challenging hikes with either less than 15 miles in distance with between 1,500 and 3,000 feet elevation gain or between 8 and 15 miles in distance with less than 1,500 feet of elevation gain.

Activity Notes

Loop around Mt. Hood Meadows visiting Picnic Rock, Umbrella Falls, and passing by some side waterfalls.

I have done parts of this loop but not the whole thing.

Picnic Rock itself is a short spur trail with an exposed catwalk. Doing the catwalk is not required to complete the loop.

Carpool from Rock Haven at 7:00AM or you can meet at Umbrella Falls TH at 8:15AM. No passes required. Suggested $11/passenger gas contribution.

7.5 miles, 1500' gain, 5900' high point
