This is an C level Mazama Hike that occurs in a non-wilderness area. C level hikes are difficult or strenuous hikes with either over 15 miles in distance or over 3,000 feet elevation gain. C level hikes require you to apply; once you apply you will receive an email within a few days letting you know if you have been accepted onto the hike.

Activity Notes

Depending on the number of participants and carpool drivers, we'll aim to set up a car shuttle between the Boulder Ridge and Bonanza trailheads. If the logistics don't work, we'll do one trail or the other as an out-and-back. Either way, the hike will cover about 11 miles with 3400 feet of elevation gain. Hopefully there will be an abundance of blooming rhododendrons. 

Carpools from the MMC will depart at 7 am. This will be my first time hiking these trails which in Mazamas parlance makes this an "exploratory" hike.

At the trailhead for Boulder Ridge, a $5 day-use fee, which can be purchased at the trailhead, or an America the Beautiful pass is required.
