Activity Notes
Looking for a long day with a lot of elevation and great views? Join hike leader and guidebook author Matt Reeder for a trek to the summit of Dome Rock near Detroit, Oregon. We will start at a trailhead near Detroit Lake State Park and hike uphill through fire damage from the 2020 Santiam Canyon fire to the summit. Expect lots of early summer wildflowers, great views, and fun companionship - and a long day.
Hike: 10 miles, 3,000 feet elevation gain. Drive: 196 miles each way (1 hour and 45 minutes each way from the MMC). Meet at the MMC at 7AM or at the trailhead by 9AM. This is a link to the trailhead: https://maps.app.goo.gl/wSqQbrSJCKUxYK5NA
We may stop for food on the way home if desired.
