This is an B level Mazama Hike that occurs in a non-wilderness area. B level hikes are moderate or more challenging hikes with either less than 15 miles in distance with between 1,500 and 3,000 feet elevation gain or between 8 and 15 miles in distance with less than 1,500 feet of elevation gain.

Activity Notes

Another landslide on the Clatsop Trail has occurred.  The trip is cancelled. 

 

This fun 7.5-mile costal hike begins at Indian Beach inside Ecola State Park. We will hike up the service road, passing WWII bunkers and ending at the Lewis and Clark viewpoint for a look at Terrible Tilly Lighthouse. Then we'll return down the trail tracing the cliffs with peek-a-boo sitings of the ocean.  The second part of the hike is an out-and-back to Ecola Point giving us a few view picturesque views of the ocean along the way.  

We will have snacks at Indian Beach.  This starting point allows you to do half of the hike or the entire stretch of trails.  Pit toilet at Indian Beach and Hiker's Camp and flush toilets at Ecola Point. 

Optional stop in Cannon Beach for seafood or ?? after the hike. 

Distance: ~7.7 miles

Elevation Gain: ~1,660 ft

Parking Permit: Oregon State Parks annual permit or buy at kiosk at Indian Beach $10.00.  

Meet at Sunset Transit Center at 7:30 a.m. or at Indian Beach near the pit toilets at 9:00 a.m.  Be ready to hike be 9:10 a.m. Please notify me if you are meeting us at the trailhe
