Commonly done during the Basic Climbing Education Program (BCEP), this hike is a good conditioner for climbing Mt. Hood as well as practicing rope team travel and crampon techniques.

Activity Notes

Fun and challenging hike up to Palmer from Timberline Lodge. This hike is a great trainer for summit season which is fast approaching! 

Gear required:

  • Spikes and snowshoes
  • Trekking poles
  • Waterproof, warm layers
  • Waterproof hiking boots
  • Snacks
  • 2-3 liters of water
  • 10 essentials

Meet at the Wy'East lodge at 6:00am then hike to about the Palmer ski lift if weather permits.

We will take breaks along the way as needed. This isn't geared to be a race, but more of an altitude training session and a chance to practice and enjoy team adventuring.
