Commonly done during the Basic Climbing Education Program (BCEP), this hike is a good conditioner for climbing Mt. Hood as well as practicing rope team travel and crampon techniques.

Gear notes:

  • BCEP rock climbing gear
  • Snow climbing gear: Ice axe, Crampons, Mountaineering boots, Gaiters, Ski pants, rain pants, contractors bags, or other things to glissade on.
  • Warm clothes to spend a day out on the snow

 

We will stay at the Mazama Lodge for the night after this hike and before the show session next day. Bring a sleeping bag, bed sheets, pillow, warm socks or sleepers (no outdoor shoes in the lodge), and PJs.

Dinner and breakfast will be catered.
