Popular with mountain bikers and hikers the 15 mile Lewis River Trail #31 remains within sight or sound of the Lewis River as you ride or hike through this valley laced with abundant side streams, springs, and waterfalls. The trail follows a gentle uphill grade through a magnificent Douglas fir, western red cedar and big leaf maple old-growth forest.
Activity Notes
Lewis River Falls are so popular in summer that they require a timed entry permit. But as winter approaches, we'll have the trail largely to ourselves, and the falls are a total gem. I led this hike a little later last year, and we experienced our first snow of the season. We will visit Lower, Middle. and Upper Lewis River Falls, plus Upper and Lower Copper Creek Falls. It's an out-and-back hike of 6.5 miles and 800'. Bring your Thanksgiving leftovers, and #OptOutside.
