Angel's Rest is one of the most popular hikes in the Columbia Gorge and affords gorgeous views of the Columbia River from it's summit. You'll hike through varied terrain, including lush green forest, a barren area from the 1991 forest fire, as well as pass by a waterfall.

This short hike is well worth the effort. Plan to arrive early on spring and summer weekends as it can get very crowded.

Activity Notes

We'll carpool from the MMC at 2:30 PM. Hikers joining at the trailhead should arrive at 3:00 PM. We'll hike at a brisk pace to the summit with minimal breaks to view the sunset, then return. Before registering for the hike, please be sure that your Mazamas activity history or your written activity history in your profile demonstrates that you are comfortable with this pace on steep uphill terrain. Hikers should bring headlamps since we will descend after sunset.
