Activity Notes
Falls Creek Cave is a 1.4 mile long lava tube near Indian Heaven Wilderness. The only entrance to the cave is reached by scrambling down through a collapsed part of the tube. There are branches and upper levels within the cave that provide multiple exploration options, but they all eventually dead end.
Helmet required. Gloves and sturdy shoes are needed to negotiate the uneven cave floor and scramble over rockpiles. The lava can be sharp and abrasive. The cave is drippy, a water resistant shell or raincoat will keep you dry.
This is listed as a "C" hike due to the rough terrain and additional difficulty of travel in a cave. The actual mileage and elevation is minimal.
