Mazama Trail features a less crowded trailhead for McNeil Point than Top Spur. This trail is maintained by Mazamas, and the route features summer wildflower views of Mt Hood.

Activity Notes

The hike to McNeil Point and (hopefully) Ho Rock will begin at the Mazama Trailhead.  The approach is less published / popular, but offers a great opportunity to hike the lightly populated Mazama’s maintained trail over Cathedral Ridge to the Timberline Trail.  We will take the east approach to McNeil Shelter, and if the group is in good spirits, we will push for Ho Rock and the rocky ridge beyond to observe the north face of Mt. Hood and several prominent glaciers.
