Activity Notes
*This is a supervised provisional hike leader qualifier for Kaitlyn Klein*
The hike to McNeil Point and (hopefully) Ho Rock will begin at the Mazama Trailhead.
Please note that this version of the hike is more strenuous than the standard trip description. Here are the details:
- Distance: About 11.5 miles
- Elevation Gain: approx. 3,700 feet
The approach is less published / popular, but offers a great opportunity to hike the lightly populated Mazama’s maintained trail over Cathedral Ridge to the Timberline Trail. We will take the east approach to McNeil Shelter, and if the group is in good spirits, we will push for Ho Rock and the rocky ridge beyond to observe the north face of Mt. Hood and several prominent glaciers.
