Located in the popular and gorgeous Alpine Lakes Wilderness, these two peaks can be scrambled in a day with a nice swim at the lakeside camp on return. A fairly easy hike into base camp adds to the appeal.

Activity Notes

This is a two peak climb.  Granite and Trico are in the beautiful Alpine Lakes wilderness in north central Washington, about 20 miles Northeast of Snoqualmie pass. There are many alpine lakes in the area and we will camp for two nights near one of them.

Granite Mountain is just southeast of Tuck and Robin Lakes while Trico Mountain, its name derived from the three-county junction, is situated to the northwest. The twosome borders the exquisite ice-polished nooks and crannies that comprise the "Mini-Enchantments." Tuck and Robin Lakes and their surroundings provide a stunning setting of a glacier scoured haven dotted with tarns and lakelets set like jewels in austere stone.

Distance: first day, 6 miles, 2800 ft elevation gain, time 4-5 hours. Climb day, 5 miles, 2400 feet cumulative elevation gain, 6+ hours. Third day, 6 miles, 3 hours.

These are non-technical scrambles (mostly class 2-3) with some steep rocky parts.

We will leave Portland early Friday morning (avoids traffic jam )  and hike in on Friday afternoon.
