This is an B level Mazama Hike that occurs in a non-wilderness area. B level hikes are moderate or more challenging hikes with either less than 15 miles in distance with between 1,500 and 3,000 feet elevation gain or between 8 and 15 miles in distance with less than 1,500 feet of elevation gain.

Activity Notes
Hike on the Eastern end of the Wilson River trail. Starting at Elk Creek trailhead and cross Elk Creek on a gradual and evenly graded trail with a Forested setting. The trail has 16 switchbacks (Sweet 16) before arriving at the top and a viewpoint. Total of 7 miles round trip and 1200 feet Elevation gain. We will have lunch and a short discussion on a new trail--Drift creek - that is being developed from this point to the Drift Creek Trailhead.
