Activity Notes

This climb takes us to the beautiful and popular Gothic Basin, on the Mt. Highway loop east of Everett.  VERY popular, hence we avoid the weekend!  We will make a car-car circuit of the basin.  First we climb Del Campo on the SE ramp, with one fixed-line 4th class pitch and a bunch of 2nd and 3rd scrambling.  Then we cross Foggy Pass (possible rap here) and a do quick scramble up Gothic, on unexposed 3rd-class blocks.  Swing back by Foggy Lake and out.

Trail and open rocky terrain and some talus, approach shoes are fine. There is a slight chance of a snow patch or two, so a ski pole is recommended, we will use a fixed line if needed. Otherwise, helmet, harness, rappel device, personal pro, and prusik/Tibloc.  Full gear list in prospectus.

Total for the two peaks is 10 miles, 5000 feet gain.  Long but rewarding day!
