This trail starts in the sno-park off of Highway 35, near Mt Hood Meadows. A sno-park permit is required in the winter months. This is a very popular trail for snowshoeing and cross country skiing. It is an old abandoned road that has a mild elevation trail on it. The first part is protected by tall trees but can get very icy. You may want to bring microspikes. You can go quite a ways on the trail and connect up with other trails farther on.

Activity Notes

This is a Nordic ski trip along Bennett Pass Road, near Meadows. Depending on the experience level of the group members, we will either go to the viewpoint (easier) or beyond to the Terrible Traverse (harder). Distance 4-6 miles RT, depending on how far we go.

If you need to rent skis, try to rent them the night before, if possible. But we can stop in Sandy, if needed. Backcountry skis with metal edges are recommended.

We will carpool from Gateway Transit Center, west side of the parking garage, at 9 am.
