Activity Notes
Winter climb of Mt. St. Helens on Sunday 1/26 starting from Marble Mountain Sno Park.
All climbers are expected to have some avalanche-related experience (i.e. the ability to do a beacon search).
All climbers must wear an avalanche beacon which can be borrowed from the Mazamas if they don't own one.
We will maintain a moderate and consistent pace and strive to keep the team moving efficiently.
Ideally, our pace will be equivalent in effort to a Timberline to Silcox hut hike in under 1.5 hours with a climbing pack. With a similar effort, we should reach the MSH summit in ~ 7 hours, take a break at the summit, and turn around. Glissading might be an option if it is not too icy
Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Washington State Snow park permit required for parking at Marble Mountain Sno-PArk $25/day
Required Gear:
Ice Axe
Crampons
Helmet
Snowshoes, microspikes, or skis, but you are expected to stay with the group (any flotation device)
