Activity Notes
Like the idea of hiking, mostly downhill, through a varied coastal forest without even glimpsing the ocean? With old favorite hike Hart's Cove much harder to reach, I looked for other compelling hikes I could do in the area. It turns out there's a Rainforest Trail which we can hike as a car shuttle, leaving vehicles at trailheads just off US 101. It will be exploratory for me, as I've never hiked even one part of it, but all indications are that it has been cleared of downed trees. We'll hike 7.8 miles from the North trailhead to the South trailhead, ascending 2,025' and descending 3,200'.
