This is an B level Mazama Hike that occurs in a non-wilderness area. B level hikes are moderate or more challenging hikes with either less than 15 miles in distance with between 1,500 and 3,000 feet elevation gain or between 8 and 15 miles in distance with less than 1,500 feet of elevation gain.

This is a gentle hike of 9 miles and 2200 feet of elevation gain, on an old roadbed following Elk Creek in the Coast Range.

The trailhead is off hiighway 6, at the Elk Creek campground, located here:
Drive through the campground to the parking area.
Meet at either the trailhead at 8:00 or the target at 185th street exit off highway 26 at 7:15 AM
