Angel's Rest is one of the most popular hikes in the Columbia Gorge and affords gorgeous views of the Columbia River from it's summit. You'll hike through varied terrain, including lush green forest, a barren area from the 1991 forest fire, as well as pass by a waterfall.

This short hike is well worth the effort. Plan to arrive early on spring and summer weekends as it can get very crowded.

Activity Notes

Part 1: Hike to Angel's Rest Parking pass: Not Required Join us for an invigorating after-work hike to Angel's Rest, one of the most scenic viewpoints in the Columbia River Gorge. We'll gather at the trailhead by 6:30 PM, aiming to start our ascent promptly. This 4.8-mile round-trip hike gains approximately 1,500 feet in elevation, providing a moderate challenge with rewarding panoramic views. Our goal is to reach the top by 8:00, giving us time to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and settle in to watch the sunset at 8:20 PM. Remember to bring at least two light sources (headlamp + flashlight) for the descent as it will be getting dark after sunset.   Part 2: OMSI Star Party (cancelled)   Itinerary: 6:30 PM: Meet at Angel's Rest Trailhead, Start Hike 8:00 PM: Arrive at Angel's Rest viewpoint 8:20 PM: Sunset at Angel's Rest 8:30 PM: Begin descent 9:15 PM: Arrive back at trailhead
