Broken Top is a heavily eroded volcano with spectacular views of the Three Sisters. It's a fairly easy ascent - a bit of easy snow and one very short section (10 feet) of 5.1 rock climbing.

Activity Notes

August 12 update:   Climb switched to Broken Top via Broken Top trailhead.  ?Preference will be given to 2024 BCEP students from Team 04 This climb will involve an efficient approach to the rock pinnacle, which we'll climb using a fixed line and rappel off the summit.  Applicants should be able to keep a steady pace for the 6-mile approach. Climbing skills required: 4th/low 5th class rock scrambling, fixed line travel, single rope rappelling. The area is prone to lightning and climb start time may need to be adjusted for an earlier start

General Route Info Broken Top is a dramatically eroded core of an ancient volcano, with spectacular views of all three sisters and the central Oregon cascades. The climb can be done car to car in a long day, or as a more pleasant 2 day outing with an overnight backpack camp at the popular Green Lakes area.
