Activity Notes

The plan is to start from the Reflection Lakes Trailhead in Rainier National Park.  We'll leave at 8 AM and hike on snow, using crampons and ice axes as needed on the approach.  Climbers will be belayed from above on a single pitch to the top of Castle.  We'll rappel back to the start, then traverse to Plummer for a scramble to this peak and take in the views. We'll return via the same route back to the trailhead.  Round trip is about 4 miles with roughly 2000' of elevation. This is a great opportunity for recent BCEP graduates, utilizing both snow travel and rock skills.   I plan to have campsites at the Cougar Rock campground in the park Saturday night.  Climbers can come up and camp or meet the team at the trailhead Saturday morning.  Cost for the campsites will be shared among those who opt to camp. I will be leading a climb on Pinnacle Saturday and expect to be back to Cougar Rock in the late afternoon. Note: Vehicle entry into  Mount Rainier National Park  is $30 per car (this is good for 7 days).  If you arrive to the park between 7AM and 3PM please make a Times Entry Reservation prior to the climb. I'll notify who is selected by May 24.
