Activity Notes

Winter has finally arrived and to celebrate, AYM is hosting a dog friendly snowshoe via the Palmateer Loop. We'll start at Barlow Pass Trailhead and take the PCT for a few miles until we hit Trail 495, we'll then head down to Upper Twin Lake (or if shorter option: 482b connector trail) to Trail 482. When we hit Trail 482C, we'll take a quick detour to see Palmateer Point. If its clear day we should get some nice Hood views. We'll then go back down 482C to 482 until we hit the PCT and back to trailhead.

More deets can be found here: https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Devils_Half_Acre-Palmateer_Point_Loop_Hike

This snowshoe will be anywhere from 6ish-9ish miles. We'll make a game time decision based on snow conditions and how the group is feeling. We're aiming for the longer option, so be prepared for a longish snowshoe.

Well-behaved dogs who have snowshoed before are welcome on the hike (max. 5 dogs) 🐕‍🦺. Please reserve a spot for your pup by emailing aym@mazamas.org. Any participant who attempts to bring a dog who does not indicate to us by email that they will be bringing a dog will not be permitted on the hike.

After the snowshoe, we'll head to local watering hole in Hood River for some delicious foodies and bevvies!

Carpools will be available for those interested (slash do not have snow capable car...like me 😅). All car will need Oregon Sno-Park pass; daily and annual passes can be purchased online. For those who do not have a pass and purchase a daily pass, fellow carpoolees will contribute to cost of pass as well as gas.

Adventurous Young Mazamas (AYM) offers activities targeted to those in their 20s, 30s, and anyone young at heart. All activities are open everyone, regardless of age. Come join us!
