Activity Notes

Don't call it a comeback! Though, one of my favorite trails in Oregon is open after a long closure. Let's burn off some pumpkin pie with a post-Thanksgiving Saddle Mountain hike.

This trail is popular and there is not a lot of parking so carpooling is encouraged. For those who want to, plan on meeting at the Sunset TC in Beaverton, 10470 SW Barnes Rd. I'd like to leave the TC around 7:30 am. The drive takes about an hour and 20 minutes so we will plan on starting the hike at 9 am. For those who do not carpool, plan on meeting at the trailhead just before 9. There is a bathroom at the trailhead.

As always please bring your ten essentials, snacks, water and rain gear, it will likely be raining the entire time. There are a few rocky exposed portions of the trail so if we encounter any ice we will make the decision about turning around then but at least plan on hiking in the rain. The trail is pretty moderate with a few steep sections and is just under 5 miles. I hiked in September and it took about 3 hours.

After for those interested there may be an opportunity to head into Cannon Beach for lunch and brews or stop somewhere back in Beaverton.
