Dalles Mountain  - Stacker Butte.

• Meeting Location: MMC at 830AM for carpooling. / Alternate at trailhead at 10AM (contact leader)

• Driving Time/Distance: 100 minutes / 91 miles one way

• Difficulty:  Easy, but substantial uphill

• Gear: Trekking poles advised. Good hiking shoes . Rain jacket. 10 Essentials

• Elevation Gain/Mileage:  1900 ft / 6.5miles

• Hiking time: 4+ hours

 

 

Dalles Mt is across the Columbia from The Dalles. It is noted for great wildflowers in the spring and expansive views across the treeless slopes. We start at the old ranch at 1300 feet. We will walk road and some cross country 3.5 miles to reach the ridgecrest at Staker Butte (3200 feet). From there, you have a great view of Mt Adams and the Klicitat Prairie to the north and Mt Hood to the south. Have our lunch there and then return to the cars mid afternoon. The overall pace will be relaxed with time for flower viewing and photography.
