With beautiful views, amazing spring wildflowers, and a relatively short effort, this is one of the most popular hikes in the Gorge. On a good day, you can get a view of Mt. Hood and the Columbia River.

Hey night owls, let’s go see those famous Dog Mountain wildflowers on a weeknight!

Starting from the trailhead at 5:30, budget 4 hours total for the hike. We’ll go up Dog (difficult option via Puppy Point) and down Augsperger. Sunset is at 8:30, do not forget your headlamp.  Expect to return to Portland as late as 11pm.

Those wishing to carpool can meet at Columbia Gorge Outlet mall (west side of lot near the charging stations) at 4:30. Suggested gas donation $8-10 payable to your driver.  Toll to cross the Bridge of the Gods is $3/vehicle. Or you can meet directly at the trailhead at 5:30. A Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass is needed to park at this trailhead.
