Sunday Skill Builders: Advanced Knots Sunday March 26 Registration opens Feb 26 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Mazamas Mountaineering Center (SE 43rd and Stark) Mazamas members $25, non-members $35 Recommended experience level: knowledge of basic climbing knots (Fig 8, overhand, clove, water knot, friction hitch, Munter hitch)   Do you have all the standard climbing knots dialed? Great! There are a LOT more fun things to do with a rope, and you?ll learn a bunch of them tonight. Crafty Rope Tricks we?ll cover may include: Connecticut tree hitch  (pros and cons) Convert Munter to clove One-handed clove (and munter) hitch Auto locking Munter Stone hitch MOFT (Munter Overhand Feed Through) BHK (Big Honkin? Knot) Trucker?s hitch The perfect tarp ridgeline setup Flemish bend Snap bowline Double-strand Clove hitch Best practices using tubular webbing for anchors Fix a rope with the Y hang Fix a rope with a bunny ears figure 8 Figure 9 " Cowboy" figure 8 Adjust clove hitch with carabiner Brake knot for glacier travel Super Munter  Bowline on a bight in a sling Bowline on a bight through your harness Daisychaining a rope Gear needed: harness, a few locking and snapgate carabiners. You don't need to have all of this gear, we can share. This will be "ground school", so no helmet or rock shoes are needed. The links above go to some articles, most from my website, Alpinesavvy.com.
