BCEP 2023 Team 09: Palmer Hike and Skill Builder

Activity Notes

Hey Gang,

As stated, we are moving hike session 3 from the Idiot Creek Hike to the Palmer Hike and skill builder. I was unable to find a Palmer Hike selection, so it will state Timberline Trailhead. 

Anyway, welcome to our third hike.  We will meet in the overflow parking lot at 8am. Please carpool if possible. Be sure to add yourself as a driver if you will drive. Others, be sure to sign up to a carpool if you plan to carpool. The carpool sheet can be found at the below link feel free to choose your pickup locations.

Hopefully by now you have learned all of your knots. We are going to continue practicing all of our skills, but this Saturday's goal will be dividing the rope for the rope team and running belay while we are walking up steep terrain.  If we have time near the end of the day, we will set up a couple of rappels and a fixed line for additional practice, we will see. Please bring all of your climbing gear as listed below. Also be prepared with enough warm clothing & raingear incase the weather is less than desirable. 

Speaking of the weather, the current 7 day forecast shows 70% chance of snow thru Wednesday afternoon. It clears up for Thursday and Friday with a chance of snow Friday night and Saturday, low of 28 high of 40. I will email a map of the hike route before week end.

You will need: Helmet, harness, personal protective leash, rappel device and large locking carabiner, autoblock and locking carabiner, prussik and locking carabiner. I also suggest bringing snow shoes as I expect we might need them for faster travel.
