Activity Notes
This is a multi peak climbing trip to the Wallowa mountains in eastern Oregon. We will hike in via Thorp creek and camp for 3 nights. We will climb Chief Joseph one day and Sacajawea the next.
As this long drive (330 miles), I suggest carpooling (feel free to contact other participants. I will be driving and can take a couple of riders).
You will need normal backpacking gear for three nights camping (snow free summer conditions). Climbing gear will be helmets, trekking poles.
Schedule:
Aug 15 - Drive 5.5 hours from Portland to the Wallowas Hurricaine Creek area and camp nearby.
Aug 16 - Trips officially begins. Meet at trailhead 9AM and hike into base camp in Thorpe meadows (5-7 hours). We will stay there for three nights.
Aug 17 - Climb Chief Joseph
Aug 18 - Climb Sacajawea
Aug 19 - hike out to traihead (5 hours), trip ends, and start drive home.
