SSI virtual information night is May 22 at 6:30 p.m. Please find the zoom meeting link in either the SSI Upcoming Activities column or on the Mazama calendar.
We are accepting applications for SSI 2024 from June 1 - June 23. We will try to inform applicants as to their status by July 4.
SSI occurs in August. There are four evening lectures/skills practice sessions at the MMC (although each participant will only attend three of them - see below for details) as well as a weekend field session. To allow more participants, the class will be divided in to two different teams.
The first two lecture/skills sessions at the MMC are mandatory for all participants.
Team A will then have an evening practicing ice screws and climbing techniques on the MMC’s foam artificial-ice wall on a Wednesday.
Team B will similarly have an evening practicing ice screws and climbing techniques on the MMC’s foam artificial-ice wall on a Wednesday.
All participants will be present for the first two MMC activities but thereafter will be assigned to either team A or team B. We will try to accommodate participants' requests for the team dates that best fit their schedule. If weather prevents either field session from occurring we will do our best to reschedule in September.
