Activity Notes

Scramble climbs of Pete's Point (low 5th class) and Sentinel (4th class) in NE Oregon's Wallowa Mountains. Drive to Joseph OR and backpack to Aneroid Lake on Saturday, climb both mountains on Sunday, and hike out and drive home on Monday.

It has come to my attention that the database stats for Sentinel Peak are incorrect on Mazamas' website. I don't have the exact stats because I've climbed both mountains but not via our planned path. Here are the stats I'm expecting: Saturday 6 miles and 2,850' gain, Sunday 12 miles and 3,300' gain, Monday 6 miles downhill. Saturday and Monday's hikes will be slightly longer and Sunday's climbs slightly shorter if we have to camp at Dollar Lake instead of Aneroid Lake.

Successful applicants will be those with backpacking experience who are comfortable bouldering in an alpine environment. They will also have Mazamas profiles with badges and/or text describing spring/summer 2023 conditioning.
